Norgips solutions for high humidity areas

Protection against moisture plays a very important role, especially in kitchens and bathrooms. The water vapour content of the air there is usually higher than in other rooms.

Norgpis offers plasterboards that are perfect for rooms with high humidity.

For comfort and health

The optimum humidity in residential buildings is between 40% and 60%.

A standard GKB type A board, designed for use in areas where the above parameter does not exceed 70%, will therefore work well in most rooms. It is used to build wall and ceiling claddings and to construct partition and curtain walls, suspended ceilings and attic linings. However, in the case of the bathroom, humidity levels increase significantly after a hot shower. In order to avoid the formation of fungi and mould, which are harmful to health, it is important to choose products with increased moisture resistance. An effective solution is impregnated H2 plasterboard. A special hydrophobic substance is added to its gypsum core which significantly reduces the absorption of moisture by the gypsum core, making the board suitable for use in rooms where the relative humidity exceeds 70%. However, it is important to note that it should not be higher than 85% and that such high humidity levels can occur for a maximum of 10 hours per day. Mechanical ventilation must also be installed in rooms with such a high moisture content in the air.

Double protection

A major advantage of Norgips drywall lining systems is the wide choice of solutions, tailored to specific requirements.

If you need a partition with increased moisture resistance, which at the same time meets high fire resistance standards, you should choose fire-resistant impregnated plasterboard type DFH2. The gypsum core of the plasterboard features an increased density, a glass fibre reinforcement and a hydrophobic agent additive (paraffin or silicone). If, in addition, we have high requirements for noise reduction, we should choose Acoustic Super plasterboard type DFH2IR.

It is worth remembering that the final result is also strongly influenced by accessories. Norgips offers solutions to suit both residential buildings and public spaces. For the finishing of rooms with increased humidity, such as public toilets or sanitary halls, the C3 profiles are best suited, whose anti-corrosive properties have been enhanced, thanks to an increased coating of Z 275 galvanised zinc and an additional coating of polyester paint.
