SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
The substrate should be dry and in sound condition and free of dirt, dust and loose particles.
Prior to applying the compound to cut edges, they should be dusted with a damp brush.
COMPOUND PREPARATION
Pour the joint compound gradually into a vessel filled with clean water in a ratio of 11 litres of water per 25 kg of dry mix; then mix manually or with a low-speed mixer until a homogeneous consistency is reached. After mixing with water, the compound should be used within 60 minutes.
GROUTING OF PLASTERBOARD JOINTS
Apply the compound to tapered (vertical) joints of NORGIPS S plasterboards over a width of 10 cm and then embed
a paper or fibreglass reinforcing tape into it. After drying, apply a second layer of the jointing compound to the joint. Also fill the places at which the plasterboards are affixed with sheet metal screws.
If a fibreglass mesh reinforcing tape is used, it can be bonded directly to a tapered plasterboard joint and then the joint can be grouted twice with a jointing compound.
Chamfered butt (horizontal) joints are to be damped with water and then grouted with the selected jointing compound. After the compound is dry, apply another layer of jointing compound to the joint and then embed a paper or fibreglass reinforcing tape into it.
After drying, remove any excess compound. In this way, a structural joint layer corresponding with the Q1 surface quality level is obtained.
A joint prepared in this way is suitable for finishing at surface quality level Q2, Q3 or Q4 (see related products).
