SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
The substrate should be dry and in sound condition and free of dirt, dust, loose particles, grease, efflorescences and anti-adhesive agents.
Smoothen any larger unevennesses and fill chips. Remove protruding metal components or protect them against corrosion. The substrate should be seasoned and its humidity should not exceed 3%. Use Norgips Betogrunt to prime concrete substrates and Norgips Porogrunt for priming absorbent substrates on the basis of ceramic materials, limestone sand, cellular concrete, gypsum or lime cement.
PRIMER PREPARATION
The lightweight machine-applied plaster Norgips TML 240 is ready to use and designated for application with mechanical plastering machines. The water dosage should be set to a thin mortar consistency (approx. 1 bar / 1 m of mortar hose).
MORTAR LAYING AND PROCESSING
Spray the plaster evenly. Float the sprayed material using a H-profile screed board, vertically and against the wall face. After the setting starts, even out with a trapezoid-shape screed and process the corners. The breaks between each plaster application must not exceed 10 to 15 minutes.
In the event of longer breaks, clean the plastering machine and the hoses.
The feathering out is performed to even out small unevenness that emerged during the previous stages using a taping knife. Then moisten the plaster surface with water and use a sponge trowel to produce a sufficient quantity of gypsum bleed.
After a slight setting, smoothen the plaster surface using a surface trowel. In order to obtain a smoother surface, apply a finishing layer of Norgips Extra Finish, Norgips Start & Finish or Norgips Finish filler and finishing compound to a dry plaster. The minimum plaster thickness may not be less than 8 mm, while the maximum thickness may not go beyond 35 mm. In specific cases, the walls can be covered with plaster of up to 50 mm thickness, but it must be applied in two layers. After the first layer is dry, prime it with Norgips Porogrunt and, after drying, apply a second layer of plaster. Concrete ceilings should be plastered with a single layer only, and the maximum plaster thickness must not exceed 15 mm. Plaster being a substrate for ceramic tiles, must be applied as a single layer; its minimum thickness is 10 mm. The plaster surface should be rough, it must not be smoothed or trowelled. In the case of a substrate with various properties, the plaster should be reinforced with a glass fibre mesh.
